Ladder Stitch

02/05/2023

The perfect stitch for closing up an opening in a seam after you have stuffed your toy is the ladder stitch. A simple but effective stitch to use.

See below the steps to follow to create your ladder and pull it shut.

Step 1 - Knot thread, insert the needle and hide the knot under the seam.

Step 2 - Bring the needle out near the end of the seam.

Step 3 -  Sew your first stitch into the fold on the bottom side of the opening. Keep stitch small.

Step 4 - Come up and insert your needles into the fold on the top side of the opening.  You have created the first rung on the ladder.

Step 5 - Repeat Step 3 and 4 across the opening and stop at the end of the opening.

Step 6 - Pull your thread and your opening will close.

Step 7 - Sew a small stitch into the seam and knot your thread.

Step 8 - Insert you needle through the arm and out the other side. Snip off thread

Your finished arm.
