Flora Patterns Blog

It has been a wee while since I wrote a blog. The Autumn was about spending time with my 98-year-old father (whose patterns I am recreating) before his death in Dec 2023. End of an era. 

2024 is now here and I plan to expand my felt kits range this year.  In 2023 my felt kits have proved popular, especially the Polar Bear which is lovely. So knowing just how long they take me to develop I have decided to work on a mother duck for Easter. In my box of old patterns from my mother and father's collection, there is a duck pattern. A collection of pattern pieces cut out of cards and linked with a safety pin. No instructions so I am embarking on the task of working out how she was made. In addition, putting my slant on the vintage toy. Therefore,  five versions later I think I have a shape and construction I like and will work. From now it is refining the pattern, writing the instructions and photographing the stages.

I also plan to add to the outfits for Meryn the Mouse.
